Happy Fourth of July!

The boat tour we took with our French friends last month circumnagivating the Statue of Liberty.

Very apropos, since Lady Liberty, who will be front and center this weekend, was a gift from our other French friends hundreds of years ago. Mais, non?!

Our views are from Big Toot, the former US Navy launch that is owned and operated by Project City Kids
They also have tours that circle Governor's Island. Not only do kids ride FREE, but adults pay just $10, it all goes to a wonderful cause and it launches from North Cove Marina in Battery Park City.

Happy fireworking, everyone!

Ahhhgggggghhhh....Barrrr-Beeeee-Cuuuuuue, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, to be exact

These guys were stokin' and smokin' Sunday at Madison Park for the annual Big Apple BBQ Block Party.

And boy was it ever a block party! BBQ smokers circumnavigated the entire outer rim of the park, while barbeque fans, fanatics and feasters lined up for, what, hours?

With our out-of-town French friends in tow and fresh off the Big Toot boat ride around the Statue of Liberty (more on that, later), some of us cranky, all of us starving, we finally found parking and followed our noses towards the intoxicating scent of smoke and spicy 'que sauce. We nabbed a line, the shortest we could find, and ended up with Dinosaur Hill pulled pork sammies.

Mmmmm. Happiness can always generally be found in a big barbeque'd pork sammie!
