Bugle Boy Blast from the Past!

Look what Rachel Spevak, former DNR colleague and fellow stripe-meister of mine, brought to the menswear party last night!

Initially, I couldn't figure out where we were (or what were we thinking?!).  Rachel had marked the photo on the back June 1987. Whoa! I thought it was one of the grand parties out in Vegas during Magic, but the timing was wrong. The more I looked, I see we're standing in front of a boat and then it came to me. East 23rd Street Boat Landing, a Bugle Boy event during Young Men's Market on a party boat. Obviously, the dress called for "nautical" that night!

Note our identical striped mock neck big shirts, my matching messenger bag, ankle socks, leather fisherman sandals and, in a prior-to-when-she-was-born shout-out to The Man Repeller, "birth-control glasses" from back in the day.

So, who can tell me where we shopped back then? I'll throw out a few, see what ya think ...Antique Boutique, Canal Jeans, Reminiscence, If Boutique on West 8th Street?...

The winner gets kudos for their fashion stripes!

Men's Fashion: Summer C'Tails, Gathering #3

Another great gathering of menswear industry minds....summer 'tails at Aspen Social Club this past Wednesday night. Some new faces in the crowd, connecting, re-connecting, catching up and so great to see everyone!

Menswear, Reunited

Many members of the menswear fashion industry were feeling the love last night, reuniting at The Campbell Apartment, the hidden gem of Grand Central, for a re-meet & re-greet in NYC.

What started out as four or five friends hooking up for drinks after the trade shows went viral, turning into something truly beautiful to behold. Tenaciously and graciously prompted by Holly Adam, owner of CashmereinC. (always an instigator, since our days back at Rose's in Florence, Italy during the men's shows!), and co-hosted by Bobby Taylor of Taylor Creative, Mary Ellen Barone and Tom Julian of the Tom Julian Group, and myself, the evening brought together many of our long-standing menswear friends, some of whom we haven't seen in years, including some of my former Fairchildren from DNR! 

Many within the group that graced the evening have progressed over the years to varied and diverse new posts, ranging from fashion directors to retailers, marketers, producers, authors, fashion bloggers and publishers. Some of our favorite designers dropped in, from John Bartlett to Jeffrey Banks.
