Richard Chai's Easy Breezy Love

At the "Love" collection Thursday morning, boy met girl on the runway for the first time at Richard Chai. Centering on the designer's more street savvy side, the peppy, pretty collection scored.

Bright and happy, the collection was filled with zesty sporty asides, such as baseball shirts and baggy basketball shorts for guys and pleated cheerleader kilts worn over pants for the ladies.

While monochromatic neutrals of black on black or khaki on khaki stressed a dressier street style, the overall mood of Chai's runway was fun and trippy, even for the men's offerings, with stripes enthusing shrunken short jackets, as well as a tux stripe on striped trousers, one of my fav guy styles. Pants were slim, rolled up and casual, often topped with floral print shirts with a definite Hawaiian accent.

The sports theme slam dunked its way into the audience too: New York Knicks player Amare Stoudemire was front and center at the show.
