Just Lovely, Duckie

A sleek industrial-looking "stealth" bomber beginning -- jacket in fluid black nylon with mega-pleated trousers -- signaled the start of the edgy yet gentle Spring/Summer 2012 Duckie Brown show at downtown's Industria Studios this afternoon.

Designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver gave their downtown dudes pumped up basics scored with panache. Khaki waxed cotton jackets with stand-up collars for stand-up guys who want their pants to have a drop-down flair -- as in a dropped crotch with a shorter crop.

Sheer chiffon shirts with knit trousers gave way to open weave airy grey or indigo tweed zooty suits, created with that baggy mega-pleated trouser. Other trousers slouched out, knitted and cuffed.

The height of Duckie's masculine afternoon delight was a pretty, painterly print -- fresh or bruised roses on parkas, silk T-shirts, even shorts. Soft enough for a woman. But made for a manly man. Check out those high top wingtips!
